What did I do?

Started with a problem:

Stanford d.School seating has received complaints from faculty and students for being too uncomfortable.

Instead of removing and replacing — costing $10,000+ — I invented and prototyped a stool seat attachment.

Stool+ is placed on the stool and provides a comfortable cushion and backing.

  • A Stanford design course.

Design 11: Visual Thinking Final Project. Fix a bug in people’s lives.

Through Design 11, Patrick Fenton, the professor, sought d.School executives to see where this project could go.

  • Working with contractor to build a final 1:1 prototype.

  • Getting the final approval from the d.School to implement Stool+ and taking final 1:1 prototype to manufacturers to mass produce.
